
KEO XMEN

KEO XMEN (also known as Lord Scotch or Scotch 79) is a Brooklyn-born artist, graffiti writer, and creative director whose work helped shape the visual identity of New York City’s graffiti and hip-hop scenes. A key figure since the early 1980s, KEO is a founding member of the legendary X-Men crew and is known for preserving the traditional aesthetics of NYC subway graffiti. His work blends bold lettering with references to pop culture, classic animation, and comic book art, reflecting both deep roots and evolving technique. As a designer, he’s collaborated with brands like Nike, Supreme, and Stüssy, and is widely recognized for designing the original Operation Doomsday artwork and mask for MF DOOM.
KEO’s work has been exhibited worldwide, with recent shows at the SCOPE Art Fair in Miami, Woodbury House Gallery in London, and in the permanent collection at STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam. He also curated the first major graffiti auction at Guernsey’s in New York City and frequently lectures at universities and arts institutions including Columbia and NYU. Through decades of creative output and cultural stewardship, KEO continues to influence generations of artists while honoring the legacy of graffiti as a vital form of expression. He lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
